BIOGRAHPHIES and AUTOBIOGRAPHIES

HOMEWORK TASK

We have been looking at Biographies and Autobiographies in class. We have been reading and enjoying extracts from 'Boy' by Roald Dahl and sharing other biographies and autobiographies from home.

Miss Bates and I really want to know who you would want to read an autobiography by or a biography of. Why are you interested in them? Do they inspire you? What are their achievements?

Please add an informative paragraph as a comment to this post.

My Favourite presentation was Eden's because it was funny, interesting and informative.
I hope the year five's have just as good a time presenting next year.

House Captain Presentations - Eden's Review

House Captains Speeches

So many fantastic performances by everyone in year 6. I thought they were all good as everyone had different ideas and many ways of looking at the role of a house captain. I found the whole thing very interesting. Wouldn’t it be great if we could all get the role of something special? I was still shaking when I got off the stage and I’m sure we’ll all be nervous and excited on Thursday in assembly when the results of house captains and head boy and head girl are announced.
Well done and fingers crossed.

House Captain Presentations - Leila's Review

"At first I was a little scared to go up on stage and talk to everyone. But when I got up there, I actually was not as nervous as I thought I would be. I'm not sure I was loud enough, but even worse, I stuttered with every sentence I said. I feel I could have added more information and made it more interesting. But all in all, I'm glad I managed to conquer my fear of public speaking.
After watching everyone else's presentations, my favourite 3 had to be Georgie's, Jasmine's and Khalil's. Georgie's was very informative and well set out. Jasmine's story of the crew and the sea was inspiring. And Khalil seemed very comfortable speaking in front of everyone and his presentation was funny.
I can't wait for thursday when all shall be revealed.
Leila"

House Captain Presentations - Katie S's Review

I think Khalil's presentation was good because it was funny and he spoke loud and clear.

I also liked Jasmine's presentation, the page about the crew, and how we are like the crew.

Well done to everyone today.
Katie.S

House Captain Presentations - Ethan's Review

Year 6 House Captain/Head Boy/ Head Girl Presentation
I thought everybody's presentation was extremely  good in their own way. Everybody had great enthusiasm and expressed their selves loudly and clearly. Most people were accompanied by a PowerPoint presentation.
When it was my turn I made my way with apprehension over to the stage looking into the eager crowed; I've witness this kind of thing before so knew how to react to the situation nevertheless I was still really nervous. I made my speech and when the crowd cheered and whooped, it was exhilarating. It was reliving to get it over and done with.
Big thanks to year 5, the adults who attended it and last but not least the other participitants.
Thanks again
Ethan P

Felix's post

Well done guys!  I thought today's presentations were amazing!  I think we all worked really hard in preparing and presenting our work and think we all deserve to be voted House Captain or Head Boy/Girl!

My votes have to go to Angus, who presented excellently and in the funniest style ever, and Kahlil who told the funniest stories!  Especially the one about eating a spider!

Good luck and I can't wait to hear the results at Assembly on Thursday!

Brittny's post

I think Katie's and Claudia's presentations were two of the best because they both spoke loud and
clear and both of there presentations were great to watch and not one of there presentations
were negative, they were both positve and enthusiastic and I think they would both make a great
head girl or house captain.

A post by Tom

Today was a nerve-racking day because we had to do our presentations in front of  Y5,Y6 and staff.
It was quite scary standing in front of everyone, on the way to school I had vampire bats in my tummy
(that's way bigger than butterflies!).
Now at least it is out of the way. I can`t wait til the results on Thursday but I am certain that Kahlil and Hannah are going to win elections for my house (Windsor). They were both pretty good. Hannah had a vuvuzela and she blew on it. It sounded like there was an elephant in the room! I think the best presentation was Kahlil`s: he wore a creative t-shirt, he was funny and convincing.
I tried my best but I don`t think I am going to win.    Oh well.

Harry's post

The House Captain  presentation and Head Boy presentation was nerve racking but at the end your glad you have done it.

It was enjoyable I thought everyone did a really good job  . It wasn’t easy to stand up in front of everyone .I thought MAX’S presentation  was good because he looked at his paper  and looked at the audience  and his voice was clear.

Hannah's post

Hi, today on the 21st of September 2010 we had our house captain & head girl presentations.
I was really proud of myself when I went on to the stage.
I was a little nervous at the start and it felt like my legs were going to collapse.
It was a bit scary looking at all the tear 5's and 6's.
I am proud to be in year 6 now and to be oldest in the school.
Watch out year 5s you will be doing this next year.

I think everyone was brave to do a presentation.
I liked Gorgies because she made it exciting and fun by using lots of props.
I also liked Khalils because it looked like he put a lot of effort in to his presentation.

From Hannah

Bethan's Post

I was sitting there waiting for Mrs Watson to call the next person and when she called my name, my heart started thumping and my teeth started chattering.
When I got up on the stage and saw all of the faces staring at me it was very nerve wracking. It seemed to go very quikly but i managed to get through my presentation.

House Captain Presentations - Jack's Review

I think Mattys presentation was good because he looked ultra confident and was very funny and humourous.
I also think that harrys presentation was good because his powerpoint was well set out and he sounded very confident.

Jack

House Captain Presentations - Rory's Review

I think in tudor I liked Mattys' presentation because he gave all the information that was required and he had lots of funny bits. I also enjoyed Khalils' stories as they were very funny in different ways. My favourite out of all of them had to be Olies' because he was  very clear, loud and he  really does deserve a leading role as house captain or even Head Boy!!! Not to mention my one of course as I personally think I was good along with all the other people who auditioned for head boy/girl and house captain!!! It was great to see that most children tried out for the roles. I'm so looking forward to hearing the results!!!

Rory R

House Captain Presentations - Hollis' Review

Hi guys! I thought all the presentations were great! They were all creative in their own way! I really thought Jasmine's was really nice and Georgie's. I really like them because I think they took a lot of time and effort to get them just right! But honestly ,I loved every one's! I also liked Matty's and Eden's. I thought they had a lot of good humor! They looked like it took a lot of time and effort as well!
And those are the ones I thought were great! I had a great time and experience today, and good luck to all!

House Captain Presentations -Tom T's Review

THE PRESENTATIONS!

The presentations were all great. I think everyone did VERY well, I thought it was really nerve racking but once I had done it I was relieved that I don’t have to do it again. The best presentations I thought (for Tudor boys) were Olie’s, Matty’s and Ethan’s. (For girls) all of the presentations were all really good, and for every other house: Harry H, Cameron, François and Jack C.
For me I thought I did extremely well and I am happy I gave it a go. The most nerve racking thing about it was when I had to do the TOM FOR TUDORS and TOM FOR KINGS’ bit. This was the best thing I have ever done.
There you go that was presentations

House Captain Presentations - Cameron's Review

Today’s elections

I really enjoyed watching today’s House Captain and Head Boy and Head Girl elections. It was very interesting to see what everybody had done for their presentation. They were all very good. I was really nervous about doing my one but once I got going, I quite liked doing it. The presentations that I liked the most were Kahlil’s and Tom T’s. I liked Kahlil’s because it was funny, informative, and it told me a lot about him. I liked Tom T’s because it was also very informative and I thought it was very well put together.

House Captain Presentations - Sophie's Review

Today whilst I was sitting in hall watching the presentations I
Was really nervous because all the Windsor girls were really good
And have a big chance of winning. Everyone else was excellent
aswell. When I heard Mrs. Watson call my name out I felt
extremely nervous but once I got up on the stage and had started
I felt fine. Everyone was looking right at me so I knew I had
There attention. I said every single word I had to. And I was very
Proud of my presentation and I hope I get voted, but if I don’t I am
Sure some one will do a very good job

House Captain Presentations - Claudia's Review

I think that everyone did really well on their presentations today, but I
think that Hollis, Jasmine, Erin, Katie and Sophie tried their hardest of all the girls.
It was a fantastic day for everyone,

Well done everybody, you did great! Right-click here to download pictures. To help protect your privacy, Outlook prevented automatic download of this picture from the Internet.

House Captain Presentations - Georgie's Review

At the beginning of the day I was really scared and worried about the presentations. But after seeing some other peoples presentations I felt better. It was scary being up on the stage with everyone staring at you but I got used to it and had a great time.I luckily got to say everything I wanted to say.I thought Jasmine's was cleaver by using a ship to compare to her how the sailors fell of the ship and how it is teamwork to stay alive for them just as it is to us by working together as a team.
GEORGIE ;P

House Captain Presentations!

A massive well done to everyone who took part in the presentations today. We were so impressed by every single person who had the courage to stand up in front of everyone.

For your homework, we would like to hear what you have to say about the presentations (positive comments only).  If you took part, how did it feel to be standing up in front of everyone? Did you manage to say everything you wanted to?  Which other presentations did you like and why?

Congratulations again Year 6 - what a fantastic start to the year!

On my holiday I went to South Africa with my mum.
We went to a theme park with my friends the theme park was called Gold Reef City it was fantastick, my friends and I went on a caterpiller roller coaster
its was great fun.

My friends also came with me to a bird park called The Montacasino it was really fun we got to feed some bird they are called Loriceets,
the look like mini parrots they where amazing and the birds flew on our heads it was so cool. After we fed the the birds we all ate lunch, after we orded our food
my friends and I went back to feed the birds the birs were happy to see us again they flew on to our heads again.
When we had finished my mum and I  drove back to my Nana and Grandad's house we slept over there it was really boring for me because I had nothing to do.
The next morning my mum and I drove to the airport.

When we got on the airoplane i watched three movies after the movies i tried to go to sleep but the man across the aisle kept making a loud noise
so i couldn't go to sleep when we landed i was really tired because we landed at 12:00 PM.
